Fisherman's Wharf Fishing Report Fisherman's Wharf Fishing Report April 4th, 2012 In the wake of one of the warmest winters on record, we are now faced with water temperatures that are easily a month or more ahead of schedule, fish being caught that are also way ahead of schedule, and the uncertainty of just how this spring and summer season is going to shape up with fish on the move so early in the year. In typical Tog fishing action these fish seemed to bite only when they were good and ready and when we did finally find a few biting fish unfortunately we saw first hand what the new restriction of a 16 inch fish was going to do to us.

Tog fishing has held center stage for most of our fishing effort now for the last few trips and after this past weekend the outlook is very promising for some good action with decent fish in the weeks ahead. We will sail again this weekend weather permitting with ten-hour Tog trips sailing both Saturday and Sunday and the following week on Friday March 30th I will resume with our regular All-Day trips starting out with a four day a week schedule fishing on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Mondays until later in the spring when we will resume sailing daily.

On Jan 28 we did catch a few cod and mixed with ling and a few tog but it was tough fishing. We moved to deeper water in the afternoon with just a few more tog and no luck on the cod then again I was inshore and just a little bit shallower of where I had been fishing.

For now the countdown is on and this weekend will wrap up the regular trips for the 2011 fishing season scheduled to fish just four more trips for the Tog and the Stripers. Saturdays trip was plagued with the same wind that we had inshore but the fishing proved to be fair catching mostly Sea Bass for those at the rail despite the wind and waves.

Fisherman's Wharf Fishing Report Fisherman's Wharf Fishing Report December 7, 2011 Unseasonably warm weather for the first week of December, some calm seas, and some biting fish made for a pretty decent weekend here at the Wharf with pretty good success on just about every trip. Sunday and Monday were both pretty decent days with the Tog they bit at least part of the day each trip and we landed some top quality fish with our average Blackfish ranging between three to five pounds as well as several citation sized fish weighing over 7 lbs.

Fisherman's Wharf Fishing Report Fisherman's Wharf Fishing Report December 1, 2011 Depending on which trip you were out on this past week you may have seen anything from sheer boredom, to a cooler full, or even a super sized trophy fish in your box. Sea Bass trips will continue to run on Wednesday's, Saturday's, and Sunday's but now these will all be 12-hr special trips allowing the time needed to travel to the best fishing.

This was certainly a nice change of pace for me, I hadn't fished for the Bass since the October closing and with the good fishing that has been enjoyed recently and the decent weather in the forecast, I was anticipating a nice trip. Togging wasn't nearly as good as it was the prior day but there were still a few real nice fish landed and with a high hook landing eight nice Tog you certainly can't call it a bum day.

Fisherman's Wharf Fishing Report Fisherman's Wharf Fishing Report November 15, 2011 Mother Nature continues to rule the fishing here at the Wharf however she did allow us to get away from the docks a few times this past week fishing for the Sea Bass, the Stripers and the Tog with some mixed results both good and bad on each trip we made with each fishery. I was on this trip and I know for a fact that even though there was a lot of weeding through short fish, the majority of the anglers on board had limit or near limit catches of keeper Sea Bass and there was also a nice smattering of Red Hake, Blues, and even a few Codfish landed to keep it interesting at the rail.

While Capt. H. D. was wondering around in the deep water catching Sea Bass I was up in the mouth of the Delaware Bay for my first trip in over a week and my handful of Toggers were treated to one of the better days we have had with these fish for the entire fall. Capt. H did make a trip for the Bass on Friday but no sooner did he get off to the grounds the winds kicked up to nearly 30 knots out of the northeast making it difficult to fish and with just a few folks on board he decided to come in early opting for a better day.

Fisherman's Wharf Fishing Report Fisherman's Wharf Fishing Report October 12, 2011 Some great weather, a beautiful ocean, and a fierce bite with the Sea Bass enabled us to finish out the last week of the Sea Bass season before the reopening in November with an absolute bang! While I can't say it ever really rained keepers on Saturday like our day prior, by days end we did have some more limit catches on board and everyone had more than enough for supper and we had a great variety catch with Bass, Cod, Red Hake and Blues, we even had a few nice Flounder in the mix.
